Turks is the turk-language ethnic group living
on Caucasus. Its self-name is "akhiska turkleri".
Since ancient times turks occupied territory of Georgia, Meskheti
region (that's why they have "Turks - meskhetins"
name). In 1944 year tirks were moved to Central Asia and Kazakhstan
by the special decree of the former government of the USSR.
In 1957 year they lodged in Azerbaijan after rehabilitation.
Thus, Settlements of Turks - akhiska have appeared in territory
of Azerbaijan, in Saatly and Sbirabad areas (later and in Guba,
Khachmaz, Devechi, Shemakha areas). They choose Azerbaijan as
the second native land. Turks connects with Azerbaijanians by
the generality of religion, language and spiritual affinity.
